After the onshore testing phase, the electrolyser will be installed on the Q13a-A platform of Neptune Energy (Eni) for the production of green hydrogen at sea, thanks to the PosHYdon consortium.
The kick-off of the onshore test phase took place this week at Investa, one of the partners within PosHYdon. The electrolyser is subjected to thorough testing, as well as all components in it, the desalination, power supply, data communication. After successful completion of the test phase, the electrolyser will move from the pilot site near Alkmaar to platform Q13a, thirteen kilometres off the coast of The Hague.
A world first, because the green hydrogen produced there is mixed with natural gas brought ashore via existing pipelines. This pilot is essential for the development of large-scale production of green hydrogen at sea and thus for the energy transition in the Netherlands and North-West Europe. In the video below from TNO Duurzaam it is all clearly explained.
