Open Innovation Call for Offshore Hydrogen

Hydrogen as an energy carrier is a key element for achieving the CO2 emission reduction targets for 2050. In order to guarantee energy security, it is important that a large part of the demand is produced in Europe. Production can be done on land, but offshore production is considered the most attractive option. This is due to the proximity of renewable energy sources and the possibility to use existing and new pipeline infrastructure, but also because of the available space for the construction of hydrogen production plants.

However, hydrogen production at sea also brings with it a variety of new challenges, such as the application of electrolysis systems on the open sea, the need for desalination of seawater and the required maintenance of platforms and equipment.

Wanted: innovative solutions

To stimulate and accelerate innovation in the production of offshore hydrogen, TKI Offshore Energy is launching an Open Innovation Call for innovation projects with a total budget of €400,000.

The Open Innovation Call aims to promote the production of offshore hydrogen and to support companies and research institutes in developing innovative solutions. The authors are looking for proposals that improve the feasibility of offshore hydrogen production, both technically, financially and environmentally.

The maximum subsidy is €100,000 and the end date of the project is before December 21, 2025. If you would like more information or are looking for a suitable project partner, please contact TKI Offshore Energie via the button below.
