The famous Coastal bus 851 drives again between Petten and Den Helder – this year for the first time completely on hydrogen. Coastal bus 851 will once again be running between Petten and Den Helder this summer – and this year it will be running entirely on hydrogen. Until 31 August, residents and visitors can make free use of this clean, quiet and accessible transport service along the coast.
The bus travels four times a day along popular seaside resorts such as Callantsoog, Julianadorp aan Zee and Huisduinen, and can accommodate 80 passengers, including wheelchair users and pushchairs. The striking stickers with summery illustrations were designed by Studio Jude.
The hydrogen is refueled at NXT Mobility on the Boekelermeer business park in Alkmaar, part of the GP Groot group. The NXT Energy Hub offers a unique mix of sustainable energy products, including hydrogen, sustainable diesel, LNG and ultra-fast charging points for both passenger cars and trucks.
The Kustbus is an initiative of the Province of North Holland, the municipalities of Den Helder and Schagen, the Schagen Business Federation (OFS) and the Den Helder Business Association (OVDH) – a powerful example of cooperation in sustainable tourist transport.
