NXT Mobility opens first hydrogen filling station in the Alkmaar region

Complete range of sustainable energy

The opening of the hydrogen filling station – the first in the Alkmaar region – marks an important milestone for NXT Mobility (part of the GP Groot group). At the station, trucks and buses (350 bar) and passenger cars (700 bar) can fill up with hydrogen. In addition, they can go here for various sustainable energy products, such as sustainable diesel and LNG and soon also for electric charging with ultra-fast charging points.

The official opening was performed by Alderman 'mobility' Christiaan Peetoom of Alkmaar (header photo left) and Deputy Jeroen Olthof (right) of the province of North Holland. Peetoom emphasized the local impact. "Driving on hydrogen in and around Alkmaar has become a real option, partly due to this initiative. The fact that GP Groot itself is also deploying five vehicles on hydrogen shows that it is possible and I hope that others will follow this example."

Regional hydrogen production

The NXT hydrogen filling station is part of the project 'From wind to wheel', part of Duwaal. This project focuses on the development of a green hydrogen economy in North Holland. The goal is to set up a chain of hydrogen production, distribution and use. Regional production of hydrogen with the Hygro hydrogen windmill plays an important role in this. As soon as the hydrogen produced with wind power is available, it will be offered at the NXT Energy Hub in Alkmaar.

New possibilities

Provincial Executive Jeroen Olthof said he sees this last development as a crucial one. “By promoting regional production and use of green hydrogen, new opportunities for clean mobility are opened up and we contribute to a sustainable future. It is good to see that private companies, such as the GP Groot group, to which NXT Mobility belongs, are also taking steps in this direction.”

The NXT hydrogen filling station was built by the Dutch manufacturer Resato and was made possible in part by a DKTI subsidy for innovation in the transport sector.
