The Faraday Lab in Petten is Europe's largest hydrogen research facility.
The research in the Faradaylab provides insight into the scalability of the electrolysis process. The goal is to apply results obtained with smaller cells to large systems. An important step to accelerate the implementation of innovations from the lab in commercial systems.
The Faraday Lab is already the largest research facility in Europe in the field of hydrogen. TNO intends to further expand the lab to work on innovative solutions together with partners. In addition to the fact that North Holland North has the potential to become the number one hydrogen region, the region can play a leading role in the production of components for the hydrogen economy.
An important part of the research focuses on scaling up Alkaline and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysis technology.
Status: operational
