Testing at InVesta

EBN is already a partner for 40% in the Q13a-A platform, where the pilot will take place. PosHYdon is now moving towards the final phase. In May 2024, the testing the onshore setup at InVestaFirst hydrogen production from the Neptune Energy-operated platform is planned for the second half of 2024.

EBN participates in the PosHYdon consortium because of the public interest. By participating, EBN guarantees a sufficiently large scale of the project and ensures that the lessons learned are taken into account in the future.

Electrolysis at sea

Michel Heijdra, Director-General Climate & Energy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy: “We are on the eve of the large-scale development of the North Sea as the engine of the energy transition. Electrolysis at sea will play an important role in this. The first steps to achieve this are being taken in PosHYdon. That is why EZK sees this as an essential project.”

PosHYdon integrates three energy systems in the North Sea: offshore wind, offshore gas and offshore hydrogen and will take place on the Q13a-A platform of Neptune Energy. This producing production platform is the first fully green electrified platform in the Dutch North Sea and is located approximately 13 kilometers off the coast of Scheveningen.

Mixing gas

The green hydrogen will be mixed with the gas and transported to the coast via an existing gas pipeline. To this end, the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate has increased the mixing specifications from 0.02% to 0.5% hydrogen. The 1 MW electrolyser will follow the wind profile of the Luchterduinen wind farm.
